Toronto's History In Motion
What's different about us? Well...
The company was started by a retired High School History teacher who loved biking. Seany G. was certainly no Tour de France road racer, but he did like using his bike to get around Toronto: commuting to school, going grocery shopping, even doing errands right around the corner. In short, he took any excuse to get on his bike… After getting rid of his car in 2014, his trips got longer and longer by exploring the parks, pathways and hidden corners of the city. As a History teacher, naturally he was keen to find out more about the places he passed by and yet had never noticed before in his busy, busy life. So in his spare time, he read up on Hurricane Hazel, Harbourfront, and High Park, among other fascinating histories of the city he lived in.
One day, after a few seasons leading rides with Toronto Bike Meetup [TBM], he got the idea to lead a type of “walking tour on bikes.” He realized that this would be a lot of fun. “You can see more than on a walking tour, and you don’t have to sit in a cramped bus seat. What a great way to see the city, learn something interesting, and get some exercise all at once!”, he told his friends. So he piloted four different rides with other TBM members and got very positive feedback. He enjoyed leading these rides so much that he turned the idea into a full-time endeavour. He is excited to show newcomers and locals parts and places of Toronto that are normally overlooked. He has been an Airbnb host for several years, and loves to interact with visitors in English, French, Spanish and German, all languages he speaks fluently and has taught in High School. History in Motion Bike Tours is the perfect opportunity for him to combine his passions for cycling, history and languages.
